Uses for titanium
Titanium is used in propeller shafts, rigging, and other parts of boats that come in contact with seawater because it is not easily corroded by seawater. Titanium is just as strong as steel, but 45% lighter. Also it is only 60% heavier than aluminum. This allows titanium and titanium alloys to be very useful in things that require low weight and strength such as missiles, rockets, and airplanes. Titanium has also been used in artificial bones, pins for setting bones, and other biological implants due to the fact that it doesn't react with the human body. The downside is titanium has a high cost so widespread use is limited. Titanium's current cost per gram is $6.61.
